Belridge Operations
The Belridge Producing Complex of Aera Energy LLC includes exploration and production (E&P) operations in the North and South Belridge, Lost Hills, and Cymric, and McKittrick
oil fields. Located in Kern County approximately 45 miles
west/northwest of Bakersfield, the Belridge Producing Complex
covers an area roughly 22 miles long and 2.5 miles wide.
Oil and
gas production includes heavy oil production from the Tulare
formation and light oil production from the Diatomite formation.
The asset produces more than 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent
per day. Crude oil is sold on the premises and is transported to refineries in Martinez and Torrence for processing
into gasoline and other fuels. Belridge field operations are
centered in the new Belridge Oasis headquarters building which
opened in February 2001.
In 2002 the Belridge Producing Complex won the prestigious North American Maintenance Excellence (NAME) Award for its maintenance and reliability program and results. Aera is the first E&P company to win the award previously given only to manufacturing organizations. In the manufacturing industry, the NAME Award has been compared to the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award.
Many employees assigned to Belridge live in the Greater Bakersfield area
and are active in the community as individuals or through the
company’s Team Aera and Partnership A.E.R.A. programs. In
addition, every year during the November and December holidays
Belridge employees coordinate an annual “adopt a family”
outreach which serves a number of needy families in the area.
Aera and its predecessors have operated in the North and
South Belridge Fields since 1916. Aera is the largest producer
in the North and South Belridge fields. The South Belridge field
is the sixth most productive field in the United States. The
Lost Hills Field is the ninth largest producing field in
California.
