San Ardo Operations  

The San Ardo oil operations of Aera Energy LLC cover approximately seven square miles and are located 30 miles north of Paso Robles, just east of State Route 101. Aera’s San Ardo field produces approximately 7,000 barrels of heavy crude oil per day. Crude oil is transported to refineries in the Los Angeles area.

Aera and its predecessor companies have been producing heavy crude oil in San Ardo, Calif. since 1952. The property is operated under leasehold arrangements.

Through the company's Partnership A.E.R.A. program, employees assigned to San Ardo have been actively involved for more than a decade with students and teachers in the San Ardo Union Elementary School District. This involvement includes an interactive pen pal program plus sponsorship of field trips, teacher mini-grants and teacher participation in the Western States Petroleum Association's "Derricks to Desks" summer institute. Many employees live in northern San Luis Obispo County, and Aera community outreach extends to support of local schools, the United Way, and other health and human services agencies in Paso Robles and nearby communities.
