Ventura Operations
The Ventura County oil and gas operations
of Aera Energy LLC cover approximately 4,300 acres located
largely in an unincorporated area of the county just to the
northwest of the City of Ventura. Production averages 11,500
barrels per day of crude oil and 7,000 mcf per day of natural
gas.
Oil is transported to refineries in the L.A. Basin. Natural gas is shipped to Southern California Gas Co.
Aera and its forerunner companies have been actively producing crude oil in Ventura County since the 1920's. Much of the operation is now in secondary recovery water injection. Aera is the largest onshore oil producer in Ventura County.
Aera in the Ventura Community
Aera and employees assigned to Ventura are actively involved in the local community. A longtime member of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce, Aera is represented on the Chamber’s Board of Directors as well as the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Economic Development Association (VCEDA). Aera employees have also participated in the Chamber’s Leadership Ventura program.
Aera has played a major role in the success of the Ventura Police Activities League (PAL) by providing seed money for its start up and serving as title sponsor of the annual golf tournament. Employees have served in leadership roles on the Advisory Board and provided volunteer support of PAL programs and events
Aera is a longtime and major supporter of United Way. Employees annually conduct a United Way campaign – with employee pledges matched by the company – and an Aera senior manager serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of Ventura County.
Aera also supports local education through its sponsorship of the programs of the Ventura Education Partnership (VEP). In 1997, the VEP honored Aera’s predecessor company CalResources as Corporate Friend of Education. In addition, Aera is a charter sponsor of the Impact II mini-grant program of the Ventura County Office of Education. Through its involvement in the Coastal Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute, Aera contributes to scholarship programs for local students.
