Ventura Operations
The Ventura County oil and gas operations
of Aera Energy LLC cover approximately 4,300 acres located
largely in an unincorporated area of the county just to the
northwest of the City of Ventura. Production averages 12,600
barrels per day of crude oil and 5,000 mcf per day of natural
gas.
Oil is transported to refineries in the L.A. Basin. Natural gas is
shipped to Southern California Gas Co.
Aera and its forerunner companies have been actively producing
crude oil in Ventura County since the 1920's. Much of the
operation is now in secondary recovery water injection. Aera is
the largest onshore oil producer in Ventura County.
Aera in the Ventura Community
Aera and employees assigned to Ventura are actively involved in the local
community. A longtime member of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce,
Aera is represented on the Chamber’s Board of Directors as well
as the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Economic
Development Association (VCEDA). Aera employees have also
participated in the Chamber’s Leadership Ventura program.
Aera has played a major role in the success of the Ventura
Police Activities League (PAL) by providing seed money for
selected startup activities and sponsoring the annual golf
tournament. Employees have served in leadership roles on the
Board of Directors and provided volunteer support of a number of
PAL programs and events. In 1999 Ventura’s Manager of Operations
was named PAL Humanitarian of the Year.
Aera also supports local education through its sponsorship of
mini-grants and volunteer participation in other programs of the
Ventura Education Partnership (VEP). In 1997, the VEP honored
Aera’s predecessor company CalResources as Corporate Friend of
Education. In addition, Aera is a charter sponsor of the Impact
II mini-grant program of the Ventura County Superintendent of
Schools. Through its involvement in the Coastal Chapter of the
American Petroleum Institute, Aera contributes to scholarship
programs for local students. Employees annually conduct a
United Way campaign, with employee pledges matched by an Aera donation. |
