DESCRIPTION:
The Production Operator is a multi-task position
that focuses on process equipment operations and/or well operations.
This includes equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
Expectations include, but are not limited to, 1) EHS compliance, 2)
Implementation of the TPR philosophy, 3) Process Improvement, and 4)
Teamwork.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Operating and maintaining all or part of the
PLANTS/CLAM processes which include the following:
-
Operation and surveillance of surface
facility equipment such as rotating equipment, tanks, pressure
vessels, and associated equipment and controls. Processes may
include Dehydration of oil, water softening, co-generation
operations, and gas compression.

Operation of producing wells and pumping
units. Be able to troubleshoot subsurface pump anomalies and
perform well testing using POC’s and a lap top PC, and obtain
cuts.

Optimizing producing equipment (maximize
runtime, OEE’s).

Ensuring measurement reliability and
accuracy.
-
Collecting, analyzing and measuring
performance data for the PLANTS process.

Assisting other team members as needed
-
Performing Autonomous Maintenance activities
and Preventative Maintenance to support equipment reliability.
-
Learn and work with BPI (Business Process
Improvement) tools and also utilize Outlook to review
communication and log operator data
-
Ensuring Customer specifications are being
met at all times (failure analysis, Management of Change,
meeting operating specifications such as cut, ppm, etc.).
-
Ensuring EHS compliance is being met at all
times and participating with CAPP observations.
-
Interfacing with customers/suppliers to
ensure Team and Aera goals are being satisfied.
-
Identify opportunities and initiate plans for
improving the PLANTS process.
-
Ensure all Aera policies and procedures are
being met.
-
Clearly and timely communicate operational
"issues / concerns" to customers and other Team members.
-
Active participant in team meetings.
-
Prepare, update and complete (PWP) job plans,
energy control, and work requests (through SAP) to ensure
equipment reliability and safe operations.
-
Ensure equipment is clean, neat and in good
working order.

Understand and support the SOE process
Critical Skills/Knowledge:
-
Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation:
Must be able to understand process equipment (such as pumps,
instrumentation, properties of fluids, etc.) functionality and
be able to perform routine maintenance on this equipment such as
changing oil, belts, and understanding lubrication, etc....

Computer:
Possess a basic understanding of AERA’s computer systems such as
SAP, E-Mail and spreadsheets, LEGO, etc. and be capable of using
these systems in daily work.

Data/Analysis/Problem Solving:
Must be familiar with trend analysis using computers or a manual
system and demonstrate ability of data usage in problem solving.
Be familiar with Root Cause Failure Analysis and trouble
shooting of process equipment (logical thinking).

Literacy/Communication:
Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both orally and
written, sufficient to understand instructions and to give
instructions to others. Is able to clearly express his/her views
in discussions. Is an active participant and provides valued
input in meetings. Listens carefully and effectively. Uses
logbook/E-Mail effectively and keeps others informed of the
status of his/her work.

Is familiar with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools. Is willing
to change work habits to get desired results. Supports the
Plan/Do/Check/Act process. Uses CI tools to improve his/her part
of the business.

Environmental Health and Safety
Compliance and support of safety, environmental, health
standards, and policies is the responsibility of all employees.
Examples: proper use of personal protective equipment, energy
control, lock out/tag out, hot work safe work permits, incident
reporting, etc.

Equipment Reliability
Perform Front Line Maintenance. Examples: jobs generally taking
1-2 hours each as – small valve repair/replacement, chemical
pumps, calibrations, end device trouble shooting, housekeeping.

Perform Preventative Maintenance. Examples:
vibration monitoring, lube levels, change oil, filters,
adjustments, change belts, clean screens. Troubleshoot or
evaluate equipment performance – actual vs. design, current vs.
historical. Evaluate root cause and correct, i.e., make
appropriate adjustments, repairs to prevent failure or meet
equipment/process specification.

Conduct Equipment and Process Root Cause
Failure Analysis.
-
Utilize computerized Maintenance Management
System (such as SAP) to prioritize and schedule work, document
job plans, failure cause, close work orders, update equipment
lists, track time.
-
Assist others with getting work done.
Example: operators helping crafts and logistics specialists with
second and third line maintenance.

Process Improvement
Understand and effectively use CI tools. Examples: SPC, Pareto,
Root Cause, Benchmarking, Process Mapping, and Plan/DO/Check/Act
Process.
-
Understand how work effects process KPI’s and
how process affects business results of team,
customer/suppliers.
-
Evaluate process data on computer display or
reports. Troubleshoot process variability/out of specification –
perform room cause and correct, i.e., make appropriate
adjustments, repairs to reduce variability or make process
specification.
-
Accountable for data integrity: timely,
accurate input of process data – run charts, assignable cause,
runtime/downtime, tests, track and report KPI’s. Correct poor
quality data on computer databases.

Prepare reports, document events, receive
mail, and enter shift logs on computer.
-
Process Team Support – inclusive, involved,
accountable, utilize fact-based decision making, share best
practices. Work effectively with team, customers, and suppliers
to drive out waste and improve.
