The global energy awards include another best workplace recognition
For the second time this year, Aera has been honored with a nationwide best workplace award, while an Aera geologist and an Aera employee resource group have been selected as 2019 winners from a global field of nominees.
The honors were announced during the third GRIT Awards celebration, held by Experience Energy Oct. 10 in Houston, Texas. Awards were presented in 10 categories. Aera won in the following:
- Best Energy Workplaces – In this new category, Aera tied for first with Houston-based Marathon Oil Company. The award recognizes outstanding energy employers. Earlier this year, Aera was named to Forbes America’s prestigious 2019 Best Midsize Employers list.
- Professionals – Aera geologist Emily Fisher was named one of 18 GRIT Award professionals from a longer list of previously selected worldwide finalists. “It feels wonderful to be appreciated,” said Fisher, who joined Aera in 2010. Fisher was nominated by Aera colleague Clayton Montgomery for leading “scientifically, socially, professionally, personally, publicly and privately.” Fisher helped found Aera’s LGBT+Allies Employee Resources Group in 2014.
- Affinity Network Category – Aera’s LGBT+ Allies Employee Resource Group was selected as a winner along with six other international teams in the category. “The LGBT+Allies ERG has significantly shifted the culture on LGBT+ issues in the positive direction by educating the workforce, creating a place that is open and welcoming to LGBT people and their allies, and helping senior leaders be visible in their support of ALL employees,” said Erin Larner, the group’s executive chair.
GRIT stands for growth, resilience, innovation and transition in a transparent world. Nominees are evaluated on professional accomplishments, personal philanthropic efforts and other qualities.
Nearly 300 nominations were received from around the world from oil and gas, utilities and alternative energy companies; academia and non-government organizations. Winners were selected through a blind application review.
Experience Energy, a division of Pink Petro, is the energy industry’s leading resource for diverse talent, careers and culture. Medallia, a customer experience management company, sponsored this year’s GRIT Awards.
