Jason Lopez, an employee with Aera-Coalinga, helps students learn more about the role of oil and gas in everyday life with a “Spin the Wheel” game at the 2019 Coalinga High School Career Day.

Most high school students don’t know what careers are possible for them. But 1,150 students at Coalinga High School now have a better idea after the career fair held in their gym Nov. 6.

Aera Energy joined with law enforcement, agriculture, healthcare, military recruiters and other employers to share the job opportunities that await students after they graduate.

Aera employees Jason Lopez, Donna King and Dustin Ramsey offered students a closer look at the oil and gas industry and the potential for diverse, good-paying jobs at Aera’s Coalinga operation.

“Our students took advantage of the opportunity to speak with Aera representatives and gain knowledge,” said Coalinga High School counselor Andrea Ruona. “It means a lot that Aera participates. We know we can always count on Aera.”
