Coalinga oilfield celebrates safety milestone

Coalinga employees participate in a field open house in October 2017. The field recently achieved a milestone of 19 years safe.

Congratulations to the men and women at Aera’s Coalinga oilfield.

On March 16, the team achieved a safety milestone worth celebrating—19 years safe. While this is a huge accomplishment, the employees there aren’t sitting back on their heels.

“We are committed to operating safely and in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements,” says Ed Patterson, manager of operations for the Coaling production unit. “I regularly tell the teams here ‘if we cannot perform the task safely, we will not perform the task,’ and that could mean shutting down operations until we can do so safely,” Patterson said.

As an Aera employee with 38 years industry experience, Patterson cares deeply about making sure they follow high safety standards at Coalinga.

He’s extremely proud to reach this important milestone as it says the focus that Patterson and his teams place on safety is paying off, and that every day, they are sending people home to those who love them alive and well.
