First-ever Women in Energy event shines

In November of 2017, about 300 people from Aera Energy, California Resources Company and Berry Petroleum gathered at Aera for the first-ever Women in Energy event. The event was built around the theme “Connecting to Your Purpose.” Organized by women from all three companies, the event brought in speakers Katie Mehnert, the founder and CEO of PinkPetro, and Maj. Lisa Jaster, the first member of the U.S. Army Reserves to complete the Army’s elite Ranger School. Jaster, who is an engineer at Shell, was the keynote speaker. The day also featured speakers from the companies represented, including Aera President and CEO Christina Sistrunk.

Organizers are planning to host the 2018 Women in Energy event on Oct. 16 at the Marriott Convention Center in Bakersfield.
