Lynne Carrithers

Chief Legal and Administrative Officer

Long before she joined Aera in 2012, Lynne Carrithers worked as a legal expert in California’s petroleum industry. From her vantage point, she watched Aera rise from its Shell and Mobil heritage with a new approach to the business of oil and gas production and emerge as a company with a culture, rhythm and way of operating all its own.

As Aera’s chief legal and administrative officer, Carrithers oversees Aera’s legal, human resources and administrative functions. She manages all of Aera’s legal strategies while overseeing the company’s human resource strategies and initiatives. She previously held the role of senior vice president and general counsel.

“I am thrilled to take on this expanded role at Aera as we work to develop carbon capture and storage and other innovative technologies to reduce carbon in our operations while continuing to help produce the safe and reliable energy Californians depend on,” Carrithers says.

Prior to joining Aera, she served as managing counsel for Occidental of Elk Hills, Inc., senior counsel for Chevron North American Exploration & Production Company and senior counsel for Exxon Mobil Corporation. She also worked for several law and consulting firms, including Reid and Priest, Hunton and Williams, Scenario Regulatory Management and Klein, DeNatale, Goldner, Cooper, Rosenlieb and Kimball. Carrithers earned her bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University and her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center.
