Mass casualty drill shows cooperation in case of emergency

San Ardo employees for Aera and Chevron participated in a mass causality drill involving multiple first-responder agencies and victims simulating injuries to make the event more realistic. Both oil companies worked together, along with first responders, in simulating a major car crash near the oil field, which is a likely scenario given the field’s proximity to Highway 101. A helicopter from Salinas and three Cal Fire engines from San Ardo and Bradley, along with Aera emergency medical teams from San Ardo, Coalinga, Midway Sunset, Belridge and Bakersfield participated in the event that was organized by Miller Newlon, Aera’s  medical response team lead at San Ardo. The drill was part of Aera’s training and emergency preparedness program to ensure employees are ready to respond to emergencies rapidly and effectively. Photos by Tom Grant of Aera Energy.
