From Tools for Schools to Stuffing the Bus, Aera jumpstarts new school year with school supplies for sudents.
With so many things for families to think about at the start of the school year, Aera Energy is helping check one item off that list – school supplies.
According to the National Retail Federation, families with children in elementary through high school spend an average of $848.90 on school items including clothing — an expense many families cannot afford.
So Aera supported many of the organizations in the communities where we operate, by providing students with the pens, pencils, binders, backpacks and other supplies needed to start the school year.
In Kern County, Tools for Schools is an annual Aera campaign to provide school supplies to members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County. Employees collected and donated school supplies and nearly $2,200 in cash to the club to buy school supplies – so club families could focus on meeting basic needs rather than budgeting for school supplies. Aera employees also helped distribute the supplies to club students.
In Ventura, Aera supported the United Way of Ventura County’s Stuff the Bus campaign which provides backpacks and school supplies to homeless and underprivileged K-12 students at the start the school year. Aera employees joined the United Way of Ventura County and worked in assembly lines and in shifts to assemble hundreds of backpacks filled with supplies.
The donated items were distributed from the Ventura County Office of Education to local school districts. More than 1,200 homeless students received backpacks and supplies.
In Coalinga, Aera provided 200 binders to students, while other businesses distributed notebooks, water bottles, folders, crayons, pencils, pens and rulers at the city of Coalinga’s 2021 National Night Out event.
