In a recent Forbes column Michael Bernick, a former California Employment Development Department director and current Milken Institute fellow, writes about Kern County officials and their fight to keep “blue collar jobs and middle-class presence” in California.
Bernick notes the oil and gas industry supports more than 30,000 jobs in Kern County, with industry employees making more than $80,000 per year on average.
