Who We Are

At Aera, we’re accelerating our more than 25-year journey by focusing on what we do best: safely delivering the reliable and affordable energy that Californians depend on today and will need for years to come.

As part of our shared vision for California’s energy future, we’re leading the way in the next generation of energy production focusing on the coexistence of oil and gas with the deployment of renewable energy to reduce emissions, support local economies and create jobs. Through delivering the oil and gas people need today and investing in lower carbon energy production, we are helping meet the state’s transition to carbon neutrality while providing the energy Californians need to power their daily lives.

Formed in June 1997, Aera is based in Bakersfield in the heart of Kern County – one of the largest oil-producing regions in the nation – with operations in Ventura, Monterey and Fresno counties. We’re known for excellent safety and environmental performance, innovative business practices, application of cutting-edge technology, and a dynamic company culture.

Adapting and transforming to meet the needs of California’s energy future.
