Randy Hoyle, Chief Carbon Solutions Officer, oversees Aera’s growing renewable and decarbonization business, helping to advance the development of carbon capture and storage and other emerging technologies.
In this role, he heads the company’s growth efforts, leads commercial transactions, interfaces with customers and suppliers, directs major real estate initiatives, brings new projects online, and acts as a thought partner with key regulatory, academic, and community leaders to collaborate on carbon solutions.

Hoyle brings more than 25 years of clean energy experience, possesses significant transactional experience ($10 billion of renewable energy and natural gas power deals), and has executed 28 projects in California utilizing solar, energy storage, and wind technologies. Most recently, as the Chief Development Officer for Terra-Gen, he was pivotal in developing the world’s largest integrated solar-storage project, the Edwards Sanborn project, and the largest wind project in the United States, the Alta Wind Energy Center, both located in Kern County (CA).
Other prior tenures include manager director, development at Edison Mission Energy; land management and acquisition roles at Lennar; and over eleven years with predecessor companies of NextEra Energy Resources where he held various transaction-related positions in the development, acquisition, restructuring, and analysis of natural gas and renewable electric generating projects.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iowa State University, and a master’s degree (MBA) from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
